Remember the test card? Perhaps if so, you might have been just a little beguiled by the accompanying music. Here's yet another of these unique compositions used regularly during the 1970's/1980's, before the demise of the iconic 'trade test transmissions'. Bespoke compositions and fine arrangements of both popular and offbeat numbers by talented and underrated unsung musicians accompanied the mundane broadcasting engineering routines of that era. These musical gems were reproduced by some of the very best musicians available and recorded onto master tapes to play along with the BBC test Card. The video attempts to capture something of the essence of children's programming that so often immediately followed the test card before the bulk of the the main programming began in the early evening. Can you remember these programs? Play School. Which Window do we look through today? (Can't imagine this being encouraged in the twenty first century) Hector's House - and with Zsa Zsa the cat. Mr Benn - remember the theme tune? Bagpuss - with the wise old professor yaffle bird. The Magic Roundabout - with the amazing Zebedee. To mention just a few examples that will endure in the memories and psyche of so many of a certain age. Test Card Music.
