I take a tour called, "Governor Palace Mysteries"
One of the most beloved church feast days in Russia is the Blessing of the Water Feast on the 19th of January. Usually, the crush to get your water bottles filled takes a lot of dirty conniving to wiggle your way through the aggressive crowds. But this year, everything was very orderly, and we filled our jugs the night before. Water is taken home to drink every day or sprinkle around the flat.I next went to the Pushkin Library, always a pleasure as the architecture is so striking. The Battle of Leningrad was on display with a wide variety of materials. I think 17 thousand children were evacuated to Omsk during the war due to the blockade. I wish I knew Russian better, as many of the books looked interesting. After that, it was time for the History Museum to look at the icon restoration exhibit. This will take another video, as there are several mysteries to solve here. But in the foyer, they had a collection of memorabilia from the 1911 Ball at the Winter Palace. Fortunes were spent on the costumes. And finally, the Palace Mystery tour started at 13:00 at the Governor's Palace, which truly has an amazing history as the only palace in all of Western Siberia. The interior had no expense spared and was filled with the highest taste in decor and rich furniture. We were shown throughout, even up to the large 2-story cupola on the top, where even there the ceilings were high. Interesting that Tsar Nicolas II stayed here in a bedroom on the 2nd floor.
