Yes, er…, if I only had a brain. When Russians look askance at me as to how I cannot speak well after living for ages in Russia and being Russian now myself, I need not blush or stammer. For the race is not always to the swift. The key is to not let your poor language skills hold you back. When I need to interact with Russians, I do it! Gone are the days of simpering looks and glances and, "Excuse me, I don't speak Russian well!" Don't worry, they'll know that in about 3 seconds. Just get to business. And so I do. I get my car insurance by myself, interact at museums by myself, and travel, when possible, by myself. And another trick is to find a way that works for you. So if I'm working at the computer all day, maybe getting out and watching a movie or going someplace will be more effective. And contrary to general opinion, my skills have improved.
