9th Thessalian Poetry Festival (english/greek subtitles)

Thessalian Poetry Festival is an international poetry festival based in Larissa, organized by Thraka publishing house and the Municipality of Larissa. Every year since 2013, the festival has been a place of gathering of the local, Greek, and, for the last three years, international poets, musicians, dancers, and the local community. In year 2021, the festival was held in Larissa, Makrinitsa (Volos), Trikala and Karditsa. 73 Greek and 11 foreign poets read their poems live, for five days, in front of around 500 audience members in total, surrounded by the beautiful nature of Thessaly. This year's festival was dedicated to celebrating connection – connection to poetry, to places we love, to nature, to others, to oneself. The country in focus was Slovenia. In this video, you can see a small selection of the readings, short interviews with the participants, awarding the “Makis Lachanas” and “Thraka” awards, and a concert of Nikos Ziogalas. We would like to say a big thank you to everybody who participated in the festival – to poets who read their poetry, the musicians, moderators, the festival crew, and all of you who came to support us and share our love for poetry. Thank you, Dimitris Vallas and Alexandros Chartonas for making this video. Thank you, our sponsors and supporters: Municipality of Larissa, Republic of Slovenia Embassy Athens, Municipality of Karditsa, Municipality of Trikala, Magniton Kivotos, Museum of Millos Larissa, Diachronic Museum of Larissa, Hotel Metropol Larissa, Kaltsas Bookstore, Ermis Office Larissa, Union of Visual Artists “8”, Poets’ Circle.
