Getting to Know The African Heritage Food Co-Op

Child and Family Services' DEI Committee welcomed Alexander Wright, Founder and President of the African Heritage Food Co-op, for an exciting discussion! We discussed the ways in which AHFC builds community, emphasizes ownership, and advocates for social justice for local children and their families. Learn about this amazing organization and how you can become a supporter. Alexander Wright is a native of Buffalo, NY and in 2020 made the decision to found Blegacy Farms. This decision grew from the need for more minorities in farming and in business ownership. In 2016, Alexander founded the African Heritage Food Co-Op to address the need for access to healthy food in underserved communities. Through his work, Alexander has become a thought leader in food justice and food equity across NY state.
