KEF 3001SE vs LS50 The secret LS50 Metas anyone can afford.
This is the reason why I don't trust marketing and what got me to research why products are made versus how they're made. The 3001SEs were the basis and prototype to both the Blade and the LS50s where all the new child patents after the initial KEF parent patent expired was culminated into the perfect vessel designed entirely from scratch TWICE, once for the mains to this series and an entirely independent parallel design for the center with a completely different set of drivers (this is the only time a center speaker was also designed from scratch versus just a repackaging of the mains) and are much more technologically advanced than their "audiophile" successor and share much more technology with the Blade's Pod than the LS50 does. The only difference is that the LS50s play about 8hz lower in room but any decent subwoofer or two crossed over at 60-80hz and the 3001SEs sound exactly like the LS50s but 3D rather than 2D. Where the LS50s create a wall of sound in front of you, the 3001SEs cast a sonic hologram that fills the entire room with Atmos level precision imaging all around you. The sound stage imaging is beyond anything the LS50 design is capable of which is why this same design was later only reserved to the Blade. Here's a comparison between the ls50 and 3001SE phantom center versus the 3001SE center. https://youtu.be/BdI7yMMHjpU If I helped you and you want more content like this support me by subscribing liking and helping me explore more: https://ko-fi.com/neomancr Tech journalism shouldn't be all just marketing. I honestly regret getting the LS50s but I have them listed on ebay. I wish I had known I could have been happier with something a fraction of the cost that was built with higher quality parts and is more historically significant as a collector.
