Hartman is hilarious... until he isn't. You know how in First Blood everyone is cheering for Rambo to shoot up the town and the sheriff and then the mood immediately changes when Rambo breaks down (I think I made a compilation of that scene, you should check it out). I think this scene is very similar... Everyone is laughing until it suddenly isn't funny at all. The change in their expressions as Pyle is choked is striking.
