I was lucky enough to attend the 2013 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a few friends, even if it was only for a day, but what a day! By coincidence I ended up meeting with my friend Shmee150 who got me inside the Bonham's auction to witness history. Indeed, the star of the show, the Mercedes W196R Silver Arrow was about to be sold at the famous Bonham's auction, for a whopping £17,5 million (that's around £19,6 million after buyer's premium and commissions according to Shmee150). What is so special about this car you ask? Well, this Formula One from 1955 was owned by Mercedes ever since, and driven by Juan Manuel Fangio, a very famous racing driver from the golden age of motor sports. But the most important part, it's "palmarès": this car won two Grand Prix (1954 and 1955) with Fangio behind the wheel. This particular W196R was entirely restored and certified by Mercedes. As you will see in the video, Sir Stirling Moss, who also drove this car back then and also happened to be at the auction to witness history, went to check it out after as well as answer a quick interview and sign a few things. MORE VIDEOS COMING SOON !!! Filmed with a Sony HDR CX410 Enjoy! ********************************************************** [●] Facebook: http://on.fb.me/alexsmolik [●] Visit my website: http://alexsmolik.fr/ [●] FlickR: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexsmolik [●] Twitter: http://twitter.com/alexsmolik ********************************************************** Hope you enjoy! - ALEX
