B-52 Stratofortress: Unearthed Cold War Secrets of an Unsung Legend!

The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber. The B-52 was designed and built by Boeing and has been in service with the USAF since 1955. Thankfully, never acted in its original primary role as a nuclear bomber, but it has served in conventional warfare. Its first combat mission, Operation Arc Light, was flown on 18 June 1965, when 30 B-52Fs of the 9th and 441st Bombardment Squadrons struck a communist stronghold near the Bến Cát District in South Vietnam. Compared with the cost of operating and sustaining other heavy bombers, the B-52 is not particularly expensive. As reported by Loren Thompson in Forbes (June 2, 2020), citing David Axe, “The B-52 is economical. It costs around $70,000 to fly a B-52 for one hour. That’s roughly the same as what a B-1 costs for an hour of flight, and half what a B-2 costs.” The B-52 completed 70 years of continuous service with its original operator in 2015. After being upgraded between 2013 and 2015, the last airplanes are expected to serve into the 2050s. 📌 SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL HERE ➡️ https://bit.ly/3xyp8S5 Incredible 70+ Years Evolution of Boeing B-52 Stratofortress We know that sometimes we make mistakes, and you tell us about them by leaving a comment.
