rear headrest removal w124 300e, 40e 500e 300d

Here's how to remove the rear headrest on a W124 chassis Mercedes. 300e, 400e, 500e, 260e, 300d There are two locking pins held in with a spring. There is a black lever that will move the pin out of the locking hole. One for each headrest leg. In this video, I only show the flipping of the pin on one of the legs, it's pretty cramped inside the trunk to be able to get a good video. 1) With headrest lowered get into trunk. (If headrest is not lowered, push the headrest release button, or remove the bench seat and apply vacuum to the white vacuum line on the left side of the car. To do this you will need to remove the white vacuum line from the vacuum change-over switch (below rear seat on left side) 2) Move black plastic lever and flip to locking pin 180 degrees so that the shorter side is in the locking hole. 3) repeat for other headrest leg 4) wiggle headrest a little to free it up. 5) get out of trunk (if you can) 6) pry out ornamental cover as shown in video (It's in there pretty tight, only pry on the top part as seen. It will make a loud crack type sound as can be heard. 7) remove headest. 8) Shop at Benzbonz.biz for your pre-owned mercedes parts needs.
