La Palma volcano earthquake plots 12/09 to 12/11/2021
There has been some talk on discussion boards about the grid pattern of the earthquakes at La Palma island, Canaries. Some said the earthquakes were man made. The reason for a grid pattern is the data used they were looking at was from EMSC a EU earthquake site that only uses 2 decimal points for the latitude and longitude, therefore the plot points are set out as a grid. If you use the Spanish IGN data you will see that they use 4 decimal points, giving a truer layout on a map. Nothing to see there, its a red herring. Here are the earthquakes recorded by IGN plotted on a map of the island over the last 2 months.
