Rallyman SHAKEDOWN: 21 - Nice Weather, Eh?
In this Shakedown, we're trying to bring some Dynamic Weather into Rallyman: Dirt. Will our efforts successfully simulate a soggy stage? It wasn't long after the release of Rallyman: GT that people were a little bit confused about how the weather in a race changed as a result of a player losing control, rather than a player losing control because of a change in weather. It didn't feel right in the same way that braking in the middle of a long straight was the better strategy for maximising both your distance and ending speed. That particular quirk was addressed with the Redline rules, and there have been a few different approaches to solving the problem with the weather, with Rommix's Dynamic Weather being the most well-known. As of its most recent version, there are many ways to implement it into your Rallyman games, but as it was designed for use in Rallyman: GT, we are going to have to build on top of it if we want to use it with Rallyman: Dirt, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue for us, should it? 0:00 Intro 1:34 Rules 7:04 Race 36:45 Results SHAKEDOWN is a showcase of Rallyman and the community that makes it what it is. From variant rules to recreated race tracks, from serious strategy to silly situations to find yourself in, I want to highlight anything and everything that makes this game shine, much of it community created content. There are many more things to show off in future Shakedowns, but what would you like to see the most? What aspect of Rallyman hasn't been explored enough? Which circuits are hidden gems? What rules do you insist others try out for themselves? Let me know, and be sure to spread the word about whatever great Rallyman content you find on your travels. The Dynamic Weather rules can be found in the Rallyman: GT files section on BoardGameGeek (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/256589/rallyman-gt/files), as are many other files to enhance your games of Rallyman, and the stages for the Wales Rally can be found on the Tracks & Road-Books site (https://sites.google.com/view/rallyman-tracks-and-roadbooks/rallyes), as can many other stages and circuits that can serve as testing grounds for all the new rule variants you've found on BGG.
