[Quake Live] Sleepy(POV) vs. Pep - Choking and Clutching 8/30/2020
What a crazy ass match this was. There are so many different factors here that makes it insane. For one thing, I was coming back after a 10 day vacation so I was fairly rusty and unconfident in my aim or combat abilities, which you can see in the beginning with me practically negating the stuff I was picking up with fall damage before sloppily rushing pep, but that rustyness also lead me to lose track of the item timings part of the way through for a LONG time, which usually happens to me anyways in duel, but not to the extent it happened in this match. Another thing is I was nervous because pep has beaten me 4 times in duel already, one right before this match on Aerowalk, a map I thought I was fairly good at, I had won zero times against him. Zilch. Nada. I was however despite my rustyness trying to work on a specific skill, that being trying to tell where the enemy is and predict their movement. So I'm shooting into doors and shit a lot more in this match. I surprised myself in the middle at 8:30 when I somehow caught that he was about to come down from the second platform and did a crazy read on it. That was the moment where I went from feeling unconfident to leaning into my computer screen. All those factors contribute to a match that is cringy to watch at times, yet batshit insane and somewhat gratifying as I slowly grow more confident again and after a serious choke in the middle of the match, go absolutely ham in the last few minutes. I actually did like a fuckin involuntary warcry at the end because of how tense I felt both mentally and physically during those last few minutes. I feel like I went from being rusty from a break to being better than I have been in the past at my best. Quake is insane. Thanks to Pepsi for being such a great opponent. I love playing with this guy and I honestly still am confident the dude can kick my ass. I barely fended him off in many situations.0 :) Play Quake Live : https://store.steampowered.com/app/282440/Quake_Live/
