John Ball: Medieval England's Revolutionary Priest

In the year 1366, the Church hierarchy drove John Ball from his church and pulpit. For the next fifteen years, he reached in village greens and roadsides against the evils of the feudal system. During the Peasants' Revolt, it looked as if John Ball would achieve his vision of a classless society.
