What I Liked and Didn’t Like From NRL Round 3 (An American Perspective)
Visit The Touchback: www.thetouchback.com NRL Round 3 didn’t quite match the heights of Round 2, at least from a highlights perspective, but it was always going to be impossible to live up to all those spectacular moments from last week. All things considered, it is unlikely that many folks saw all these blowouts coming down the pipeline. We may not have gotten Xavier Coates but I quite enjoyed the, as those down under call it, suburban footy. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like from NRL Round 3. I didn’t just like the games at Leichhardt Oval and Belmore, I freaking loved them. These are the places I want to see matches from when I make a sports trip to Australia in the next few years. You don’t need to be a longtime fan of the sport to understand just what these places mean to Tigers and Bulldogs fans. And they are an important part of league history in Australia. Remember toward the back end of last season when there were rumblings that Chad Townend was being offered to teams in New South Wales and the Super League? That never materialized and now he is steering the ship for the 3-0 Cowboys who like the 2022 vintage and not that odd Jekyll and Hyde side we saw in 2023. Also featured are moments from the Manly Sea Eagles and Paramatta Eels games as well as an odd moment from the Newcastle Knight's win over the Melbourne Strom. About The Touchback #takeitouttothe25 The Touchback is the world’s best sports and culture website…or something like that. You’ll either really like it or really hate it. But it’s worth reading either way.
