GAME 1: From PIAA (Pennsylvania) Suburban One league 2012 on April 13. Home and away games of perennial power Abington with 2 D1 blue chippers, Ryan Ambler (Princeton) and Austin Pifani (North Carolina), take on rival Pennsbury - who sent a few kids to DIII. Abington unbeaten in league play for 6 years and the public high school team of Matt Rambo before he transferred to LaSalle. This first game is at Abington. Epic battle of wills between two teams with no love lost between them. The two teams were even in all quarters but the third, when the Falcons outscored the Ghosts 4-2. Matt Figueroa led the Ghosts with three goals and an assist, while Matt Lomady added two goals. Ryan Ambler added one goal, three assists and four groundballs, Austin Pifani recorded one goal and four groundballs, Hunter Jones and Matt Gormley each scored one goal and Travis O’Connor stopped 11 shots in net for Abington in the losing effort. Pennsbury was led by Ryan McDonald’s four goals. --------------Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 4/13/12----------------------- After years of frustration, Pennsbury finally broke the spell from its Suburban One National Conference arch-rival, five-time defending champion Abington. The visiting Falcons earned an 11-9 victory today over the Ghosts, claiming their first win over Abington since May of 2006. Abington had won the last 10 times the teams played. Ryan McDonald scored four goals and Andrew Probst had three while Sean McDonald added two goals and assist to lead the Falcons, who improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the National Conference. Matt Figueroa had three goals and one assist and Matt Lomady scored twice for the Ghosts, who dropped to 4-3 and 2-1. Ryan Ambler added a goal, three assists and four groundballs and defenseman Austin Pifani had a goal and four groundballs.
