The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus | One of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World in Bodrum, Turkey ??

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in Bodrum, Turkey was built between 353 and 350 B.C. by Mausolus and Artemisia II of Caria. The mausoleum was 45 meters tall and was adorned with sculptures. It was considered such an impressive feat of engineering and design that Antipater of Sidon designated it as one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. Unfortunately it was destroyed by an earthquake between 1100 and 1400 A.D. after which its remains were used to build Bodrum Castle.
