Stacking Stones (Original)

This is dope. You know it, I know it. This is dope. Points of interest: - Leadless version/Backing Track here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXcKqokrUrc - I tried to smile throughout this video. It was very distracting and I'm not sure I succeeded. - I'm using a voicing of a minor 7 flat 5 that I've never used before. I was originally using the F#m7b5 that's composed of A9, D10, G9, B10, but getting in and out of that was proving difficult. Looked into alternatives and learned that you can turn an A minor into F#m7b5 super easy... music is like magic, dude. - I originally just did improv all over this entire thing with no structure, then reassessed until I found something more.... civilised. Particularly, I save the 'solos' for the major chords, playing in G Major rather than blurring the line between E Minor and G Major. The exception being the last note of the first two solos, which is a lingering E. I think that's powerful, all the brightness of the G Major lead guitar slamming into that echoing E at the end. - It's maybe the first time I've consciously used a key change. I've borrowed chords before, but this time I really made it a point of shifting into something different... mind you, I'm playing four major chords back to back at the end, so what key I'm actually in is kind of debatable. But the lead guitar would suggest it's D Major with a hint of A Mixolydian, so I guess we'll go with that? - I woke up at 6 this morning and, because my brain is evil and loves to torture me, couldn't get back to sleep. So I started playing guitar and working on this. Didn't get it finished until 21:30 due to ridiculously frustrating editing issues. Madness... sometimes I think I can't survive another bad day, but they just keep coming. - My fingers are shredded. Chords: (Am into F#m7b5 Em) x3 G major D major x2 with Dsus4 embellishment ************************************************ No lead/subdued lead in the above section ************************************************ C major G major D major x 2 C major G major D major x 2 with Dsus4 embellishment ************************************** G major lead in the above section ************************************** D major x 0.5 bars C major x 0.5 G major x 0.5 A major x 2 ***************************************************** D major/A mixolydian lead in the above section *****************************************************
