Zamio Culcas

We reckon Zamio can't work out whether she's a fern, a succulent or, the world's oldest plant, a cycad. But, thankfully, she's taken the best from each and created an excellent candidate for a houseplant. Her upright growth, dark-green colouring, distinctive shape and her tolerance of shade make her perfect for any home. LIKES: She is pretty easy-going, being able to tolerate the occasional drought an even quite deep shade. DISLIKES: Keep her away from direct mid-summer sun and be careful not to overwater her. HEALTH BENEFITS: Like many indoor plants, she can improve the quality of air in an indoor space. But unlike others, she can also improve human health in these spaces, as it's recently been found that she can remove carcinogens, such as Benzene, that are often found in a home. WATERING AND FEEDING: Zamio culcas are very easy to maintain - give them a good soak once every 15 days approximately in the spring and summer and let her dry out in the autumn and winter. Always make sure the first 2 inches of soil are dry before watering. LIVING WITH PETS AND CHILDREN: All parts of this plant are poisonous so keep away from children and pets and wash your hands after you've touched her leaves.
