Pakistan at 75: Ian Talbot
The Mittal Institute held a two-day conference in November 2022 that brought together 45+ speakers from across the globe. The event was spearheaded by the Mittal Institute's Fulbright Fellow, Yaqoob Khan Bangash, and Mittal Institute Steering Committee Member, Prof. Asim Khwaja, in collaboration with the American Institute of Pakistan Studies and the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (U.S. Department of Defense), and with support from Harvard’s South Asian Studies Department. Ian Talbot, a Mittal Institute Research Affiliate, is Emeritus Professor in the History of Modern South Asia at the University of Southampton, where he was formerly Head of the History Department and Director of the Centre for Imperial and Post-Colonial Studies. He completed his undergraduate studies at Royal Holloway, University of London where he received a BA (First Class Honours) in Modern History, Economic History and Politics. He also received an MA in History from the University of Oxford and a PhD in History from the University of London. ___ The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University (The Mittal Institute) engages in interdisciplinary research to advance and deepen the understanding of critical issues relevant to South Asia and its relationship with the world.
