In this video I will be sharing the "study guide" version of the Hegel chapter "Hegel and the Restoration of Optimism" from Philosophy for Understanding Theology by Diogenes Allen. This book offers a comprehensive primer on the philosophical building blocks for theology students. It's a perfect study and reference tool and I find the Hegel chapter to be very clear, accessible, and succinct in explaining how the work of Hegel intersects with the field of theology. Of course, Hegel is only one part of this survey of philosophy, so this work spans from antiquity to "contemporary philosophy"(this work was published in 1985, so I extend the writer's arc to today toward the end of this video).
