Vintage 2 stroke moped review and drive: Russian "Karpaty-2"

The "Karpaty-2" moped (Карпаты-2 мопед) was produced (and sold) from the late 197s to the mid-1990s in the USSR/Soviet Union on the territory of present-day Ukraine. This small motorcycle can easily be mistaken for a moped even though it does not have pedals, given its diminutive size and rather modest technical specs: 50cc engine, 2 HP, 55kmh max speed. Never the less, back in the day this little steed was a dream came true for any Soviet youngster and for many it was the introduction to the world of motorbikes. From a design point of view this moped is an interesting mix of older concepts, with pleasant esthetics. In fact it reminds me a little of a early 60s Moto Guzzi moped. The rear downsize of this motorbike is the fact that unfortunately the build quality and reliability is lacking in many ways. Never the less, I thoroughly enjoy taking my Karpaty for a spin every once in a while - when I can get it to run, that is... The music used in this video is: Russian Dance - Joey Pecoraro Cuckoo Clock - Quincas Moreira Quick breakdown of the video: 00:00 Start 00:12 Intro and starting attempt 00:52 Technical info 01:56 Attempting to take the bike for a spin 02:21 More features 03:38 Making smoke! 03:42 Wheelspin! 04:09 Enjoying the countryside 04:18 POV view 04:35 Cruising around 04:40 Personal rants 04:57 Bird watching 05:10 Epic conclusion 05:38 Saying "goodbye!"
