GBA Emulator Download Now - http://goo.gl/X6H1nv Gameboy and Gameboy Advance emulation on the PC Gameboy emulation for the PC is a fairly straightforward and easy process. There are two great emulators out that will run nearly 100% of all Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games at full speed and framerate, with near-perfect sound and no glitchiness. The first emulator to check out is VisualBoy Advance. The latest version at this writing is 1.7.2, and everything you need comes included in the program. You install it as you would any other Windows program, and the menus in the program should be fairly self-explanatory. Games are in the form of ROM images, files that usually have an extension of .gb, .gbc or .gba. These do not come with the program - they are created by using special hardware to copy the information from the Gameboy cartridges to the computer, and unless you want to invest in such hardware you have to cruise around the internet to find these ROM files. Technically, it is not legal to distribute these ROMs as they are copyrighted material. However, you will see sites like Emu Paradise and ROM Hustler around that have nearly complete collections of all Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games. Distribution of ROMs is only sporadically enforced by game companies, and I've never heard of an individual having legal action brought against them just for possessing ROMs. VisualBoy Advance has a pretty robust feature set that gives it even more functionality than a real Gameboy Advance. You can fast-forward the action, save the game at any point, enter GameShark and CodeBreaker codes, snap screenshots, and record sound files. You can also patch ROMs with files called IPS patches, which allow people to make various language translations of games and create new levels amongst other things. The emulator even simulates the Gameboy Printer. VisualBoy Advance is great, but if you want to play multi-player games on your computer or online, you may also want to pick up No$GBA. This is also a good choice for Pokemaniacs who want to simulate multiple Gameboys at the same time in order to trade Pokemon with themselves, as VisualBoy Advance does not support that feature. No$GBA is a very good emulator, pretty much on par with the quality of VisualBoy Advance, but requires a bit beefier hardware to run at full speed. Gameboy emulation on Mac and Linux VisualBoy Advance also has a version that uses the SDL graphics library, however I have no experience with it so I do not know if it runs as well as the original Windows version. Gameboy emulation on various portable devices There are a number of emulators for the PSP, although I don't own one so I can't tell you the quality level of any. If you are interested in a portable emulation system for multiple older consoles, you might look into purchasing a GP2X, which has become an emulation hacker's dream system. Emulators have also come out for the Iphone, various Ipods and mobile phones, but due to the low power and limited interface of these systems the emulators are obviously of subpar quality and are more of a technical demo than something you can really use to enjoy games.
