From Gamespot “The PlayStation Store's Big in Japan promotion has returned with a fresh slate of deals that are worth checking out. More than 200 Japanese-developed games are discounted, including a handful of titles that released this year. Nier Replicant is slashed to $39, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PS5 is down to $49.69, Scarlet Nexus is $36, and NEO: The World Ends With You is $42. We've highlighted the best deals in the Big in Japan sale below, but it's not the only ongoing sale on PSN. If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, make sure to take a peek at the Double Discounts sale. All of the deals listed below are available until October 7, so you have some time to make your picks.” From IGN “Death Stranding Director's Cut comes with a slew of updates and new content, including but not limited to new weapons, a new vehicle, new ways to deliver cargo, and even a brand new story mission. So here are the biggest things to expect when booting up the Director's Cut on PlayStation 5. Unlike the recently released Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, which came with one big piece of new content in the form of the Iki Island expansion, Death Stranding is instead opting for a ton of smaller tweaks and additions, which can make it a bit more confusing when trying to identify exactly what it is you're getting with this upgrade. Death Stranding Director's Cut is releasing for PS5 on September 23, 2021.” From IGN “Ubisoft has revealed that Far Cry 6 will not feature ray tracing on consoles. This news comes by way of TechRadar, which reached out to Ubisoft for confirmation after a Ubisoft 3D Team Lead Programmer told Wccftech that ray tracing will be a "PC-only feature." Alongside ray tracing, AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution feature will be found only on PC versions of Far Cry 6 as well.” From CBR “Resale prices for PlayStation 5 consoles have reached all-time lows on several second-hand marketplaces. As reported by Forbes, PlayStation 5 resellers on popular marketplaces like eBay and StockX are reporting their lowest profit margins yet, despite their prices still being above the recommended MSRP for Sony's latest console. While demand for the PS5 is still outweighing the supply, consumers are now more inclined to avoid resellers altogether. The stock of second-hand PlayStation 5 consoles remains unchanged on StockX.com, but asking prices have dropped significantly since their peak in Nov. 2020. The consoles were previously selling regularly for around $1,000. However, in recent months prices have been trending down to an average of $715 for the disc version and just under $700 for the digital-only model, still well above the products' MSRP of $499 (disc version) and $399 (digital version).” From PushSquare “About five or so months ago, you may remember there being a bit of a fuss surrounding the PlayStation 4's internal CMOS battery and how should it die alongside Sony eventually pulling PS Store support on the console, the system would effectively be rendered useless. The small component in question is used to verify the date and time Trophies are unlocked on PS4 to prevent any cheating, but while the battery is easily replaced, not being able to connect to PSN after installing a new one would mean you can't access your games anymore — physical or digital. That's because PS4 titles must connect to the network at least once before they're able to run. This created a bit of concern amongst the hardcore PlayStation community, with some worrying about what would happen to current PS4 titles should PSN support be pulled and the CMOS battery in question die on them. Well, the good news is that this concern is no longer a problem at all as Sony has fixed the issue with the recent firmware update 9.00.”
