How I farmed gold in WoW Classic
With Pathfinding (136% run speed) in my raid spec, while having Herbalism and Mining as primary professions, and having access to Feign Death - running Maraudon from purple entrance all the way to the end was my favorite way to farm gold. The run results in 7 ghost mushrooms, 5 mithril nodes and 2.75 blindweed spawns (there is a 25% chance for one of them to spawn close to princess which is too far away from my route), and the loot from the goblin boss. As you can see on the stopwatch, a full cycle clocks in at just below 12 min, which makes it perfect to not get locked. I know my instance tracker had recorded 800+ kills on the goblin, but often I ran in and gathered for a few minutes as well, since you don't need to complete the run in order to profit (unlike DM:E, which was also very efficient for me as a hunter with double gathering professions). PS. I'm obviously level 70 here, but I wanted to have some video evidence before WotLK, and since I didn't play TBC, I still had my professions and the same gear - the run was basically identical compared to how I did it on level 60. I don't know exactly how much gold per hour this yielded me, since it varied over time since mithril really increased over time, while the other materials always were in very high demand. Since I quit shortly after AQ was released, this took place mostly before the whole leveling boosting boom (which is more much tedious and less flexible).
