AMD X570 - Are all M.2 NVMe slots equal?

Is there a difference between M.2 slots if you want to put there fast NVMe Gen 4.0 drive? Yes there is! Motherboards with X570 have one M.2 slot connected directly to Ryzen CPU and there is at least one M.2 slot that is connected to X570 chipset. But there's a small problem. X570 CPU uplink has the same bandwidth as the full speed PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 NVMe drive. So M.2 slot shares CPU Uplink bandwidth with all connected devices. So let's see how does that affect the speed of a very fast NVMe drive. P.s. With Gen 3.0 drive (Samsung 970 EVO Plus) there wasn't any measurable difference. mbo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X NVMe: Samsung 980 PRO 500 GB Ram: 2x16 GB (3600) #X570 #M.2NVMeSlotSpeed #Samsung980Pro
