In The Bleak Midwinter (SATB Choir "Sound Control")
My colleagues and I were determined not to let our work choir wane during the unusually difficult year that has been 2020. We would usually be fundraising for Mental Health UK (MHUK) during this time of year, collection buckets in hand, but we've adapted and now fundraise online using virtual performances. For 15 December, we've created our second Christmas performance here of the carol based on a poem by English poet Christina Rossetti, first published in 1872. It is set to the music of Gustav Holst, of The Planets fame. We have set ourselves to a gentle chapel organ. Please take 5 minutes to listen to us. This recording has been particularly challenging for technical reasons, but we got there in the end. We all struggle with mental health issues, by virtue of being a human being with a mind. If you are particularly struggling, visit MHUK (https://mentalhealth-uk.org) for advice and guidance or reach out to someone near to you. If you can afford to, please donate to MHUK via our page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/soundcontrol. Thank you.
