1/43 Mercedes-benz 220SE Fintail W111 Altaya review
The Mercedes-Benz W111 was produced as a sedan from 1959 to 1968. There were three versions of the car: 220b, 220Sb and 220SEb. All of them were equipped with in-line 2.2-liter engines and only a manual transmission. It was on this model that on September 10, 1959, the Germans conducted the first crash test in the history of Mercedes-Benz. Although the German engineers did not have state-of-the-art dummies and sensors, the W111 impact with 100% overlap showed that the driver capsule concept worked. Mercedes-Benz W111 was equipped with a safety steering column, soft front panel and seat belts. 1/43 scale model by Altaya well repeats the prototype although it is imexpensive. Well-designed interior but poor bottom of the car. Unfortunately, there are no opening elements. You can see the replica in more detail in our video review.
