An embodied Siva mantra to help in these times

I am posting this weekly practice earlier than usual because I am hearing from many women that December is proving to be a choppy month. And I can feel these energies myself. However, there is some good news in the midst of the choppy waves—these are times of the emergence of Siva, the Divine Masculine manifestation of the mind. I have felt Siva’s presence very strongly these days. He has descended in my dance practice in a way that has astounded me with its ease and clarity. In my 40 plus years of dance, I have never felt such a clarity and strength of Deity presence before. And this gives me tremendous strength in these chaotic times that the Divine is not remote but is in our breaths and bodies. Many of you have shared with me that the strong mental energies of these times are paralyzing your body. When the mind reaches the limits of its attempts to master Reality, it intensifies its behaviours of control, domination and separation. And the more the mental consciousness strengthens in these behaviours, the more we are distanced from our bodies. Rather than resist the mind (which still keeps us in the conflict paradigm of the mind), the emergence of Siva is the breathtaking grace of Reality that offers an invitation to move the mind to its Divine consciousness or the Siva Consciousness. Siva is that movement of the mind that yearns for the Goddess or our embodied consciousness. Siva begins with that most powerful of mental attributes which is desire. It is the mind’s desire that drives it towards mastery and domination. The very same desire can become expansive rather than constraining when we liberate it from its external flailing. We can turn this desire towards that unconditional pleasure we hold in our bodies. This movement of turning is Siva’s dance, the Goddess’s body and the Goddess’s manifestation, all in the same moment. In this video I share an embodied practice of the very famous Mrityunjaya mantra of Siva. The words are below and I explain the words as I share the practice in the video. Om Tryambakam yajaamahe sugandhim pushtivardhanam Urvaarukamiva bandhanaan mrityormuksheeya maamritaat I suggest practising this simple mantra whenever you feel paralysed by the mind, when you feel that the philosophy of the times offers no solutions to you and that you are exhausted from trying to think your way through. I hope to post more Siva practice videos in these times as an offering to His emergence and what I sense as His desire to dance with those who will accept His invitation. I hope you will join me to dance our Siva consciousness amidst the choppiness of our lives.
