How to calculate the neck angle and route the neck pocket - How to make a guitar Part 4

Want to know how to make a guitar? In this video I show you how to work out the neck angle for a Les Paul style guitar, how to work out what shim is required for the neck angle, and then route the neck pocket out. A Les Paul neck is usually angles backwards around 4 degrees. This makes the head of the guitar slightly closer to you making it easier to play. Another reason for this is the high tune-o-matic bridges that you find on Les Paul style guitars. As these are quite high, a neck without an angle wouldn't work as the action would be too high.
