Palmer Amaranth is one of the biggest threats to American agriculture today. It has spread across the U.S. at an alarming rate, and if left unchecked, it can crowd out crops like corn and soybeans. To make things worse, it’s developed resistance to common herbicides. This weed has invaded Southern Maryland, but farmers are fighting back. On Earnest Morgan’s farm in Mechanicsville, MD, he’s working with University of Maryland Extension agent Ben Beale to research the best ways to stop this aggressive plant.
