Off skate training for speed skaters - S1E6 Jumping power and core

Off skate training session with 6-time speed skating World Championship Medallist and National Coach, Mick Byrne (Australia). Workout in real time, at home with me in an effective one hour off skate training session. WARM-UP * Jog variations, circles * Toe touch, twist, wall touch * Alt. high kicks * Alt. toe touch, 1L deadlift-style * Hip rotate open / closed * Lunge-to-twist * Cross-overs * 1L balance WORKOUT * Vibrations low - Out and around * Drop jumps / Frog jumps 4x - Heel taps * Burpees - Superman extensions * Vibrations upright into tuck jump - Salmon (obliques) / Lateral leg raises * Lateral bench springs - Push up w sit-twist * Skate jumps w crossback - Glute bridge / ham bridge * Control hops (outward) Off skate or dryland training is bodyweight-based training that can be done anywhere. There's no equipment necessary, and you can work out in a small space. Regular off skate training will improve all aspects of your skating. You can expect improved skating power. Your skating position, core stability, balance and agility will also benefit. It is effective if you skate on inline skates (rollerblades) or on ice skates.
