The first two movements are based on songs he wrote on guitar when he was 15 years old. The last movement is based on a cello rock song he composed in his 20's, when he pioneered the genre. The melodies were then arranged and developed by Minsky as a mature composer, who is recognized as the world's leading composer of cello etudes and encores (published by OUP and Von Cello, Inc.). Summer Haze is part of his move into larger more formal works including: The Conqueror - concerto for cello and symphony orchestra, Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh (Holy, Holy, Holy) for cello and chorus, and Legends of Cellandia for cello orchestra plus electric bass, percussion and drums.
