Artificial Intelligence and Art | BGSU Interview

Jamal Collins is a highly skilled designer, artist, and educator with a passion for helping others reach their full potential. With over 20 years of experience in the design field, and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Akron University, Jamal has worked with a diverse range of clients, including business owners, non-profit agencies, aspiring entrepreneurs, and young creative professionals. After starting his career as a graphic designer in the corporate field, Jamal recognized his calling to make a positive impact on the lives of young creatives. He began working for The Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland (BGCC) as an art instructor, and later, as an adjunct professor at Cuyahoga Community College. He then founded The Creative Kids Group, and is dedicated to empowering young creatives, entrepreneurs, and business owners with the resources and skills they need to succeed in the creative field. We offer an immersive and comprehensive visual education that fosters creativity and critical thinking and prepare individuals for client-based practices. Our programs include training on social awareness, marketing, branding and promotion, culminating in opportunities for individuals to showcase their work. With a deep sense of empathy, Jamal recognizes the importance of community in the development and well-being of children. He believes that children in our society need more than a mother and a father, they need a community of support. That's why he established the After-School Graphic Design Program at BGCC, and is often sought out as a keynote presenter and instructor by graphic design associations, universities and design conferences. His ultimate goal is to empower individuals, especially those from disadvantaged communities, to think like business-minded individuals and to understand that entrepreneurship is for anyone, regardless of their background. With his guidance and support, young creative professionals can take the leap and turn their passion into a thriving business.
