Coed ar ffermydd yn yr ucheldir / Agroforestry trees for upland farms

CGFFfC: CYNHADLEDD ANNIBYNNOL DROS FWYD A FFERMIO WRFFC: AN INDEPENDENT FOOD AND FARMING CONFERENCE #CGFFFC20 #WRFFC20 Cynhadledd 2020 Conference: https://wrffc.wales/cynhadledd-2020-conference/ Coed ar ffermydd yn yr ucheldir / Agroforestry trees for upland farms Cadeirydd / Chair: Ben Raskin, Soil Association Panel: Gareth Davies, Coed Cymru; Tim Pagella, Bangor University; Lindsay Whistance, Organic Research Centre; Y potensial i Silvopasture wella proffidioldeb ffermydd, lles da byw a’r amgylchedd ehangach. Mae ffermydd yr ucheldir o dan bwysau sylweddol, gyda’r sefyllfa o ran Brexit a diwygio taliadau cymorth ar y gorwel. Mae dadleuon rewilding proffil uchel wedi pegynu trafodaethau ar blannu coed. Bydd y sesiwn hon yn ceisio cymryd tir canol i archwilio’r cyfle i integreiddio rhai coed sy’n plannu i ffermydd yr ucheldir er budd y mentrau ffermio presennol. O edrych ar y potensial sydd gan amaeth-goedwigaeth i wella lles anifeiliaid, cynyddu cynhyrchiant da byw ac arallgyfeirio incwm, byddwn hefyd yn trafod dylunio a chydweithredu systemau a’r nwyddau cyhoeddus y gall amaeth-goedwigaeth eu darparu a’r cyfle sy’n rhoi i gefnogi systemau ffermio mwy amrywiol yn y dyfodol. The potential for Silvopasture to improve farm profitability, livestock wellbeing and the wider environment. Upland farms are under considerable pressure, with the precipice of Brexit and reform of support payments looming. High profile rewilding debates have polarised discussions on trees planting. This session will try to take a middle ground to explore the opportunity to integrate some trees planting into upland farms to benefit the existing farming enterprises. Looking at the potential that agroforestry has to improve animal welfare, increase livestock productivity and diversify incomes, we will also discuss system design and collaboration and the public goods that agroforestry can deliver and the opportunity that gives to support more diverse farming systems in the future.
