Mini PCI-E Screw Type / Size for Wireless or MSATA In HP Compaq Ultra Slim 8200 Desktop Computer
This is a short and shaky video explaining what you need to know if you want to install a mini-PCI express wireless card in a HP Compaq Ultraslim desktop PC. The model in this video is the 8200. I misspoke at the 3:59 mark. I meant to say that there was a ~25-35% loss of signal if the antennae were internally installed along an edge of the case without any holes. It jumped up and down. Yes, it would have been easier to just put in a USB wifi adapter (since it has 10 USB ports), but I wanted to see what could be done with these extra wifi cards that I had from dead laptops. Two things I forgot to mention in the video: 1) You need a small-sized precision philips-head screwdriver. I don't know the exact tip size. 2) It's easier to pop the antennae connectors on the card before you put the card in the machine. The ones I got were a bit testy. Hope this helps someone out there. Happy modding.
