Movie Review: Чистое Небо
Movie Review Movie Review: Чистое небо (1961)Getting out of the army, the war is finished, and all your dreams and wishes for a happy life can be realized. But in reality, many challenges can make life unbearable. Such was the plot in this film when a likeable pilot finds love, but then when his plane is shot down, he ends up in a German camp. Escaping back to Russia, he is treated with suspicion and not allowed back into his work and shunned by society as a possible collaborator. And this movie shows profound truths for those who survived in WW2. Both of my wife's grandfathers came back to waiting wives but could not adjust well. Just as in the movie, the men started drinking too much, no doubt trying to deal with post-traumatic stress. An unsettled life ensued, making life hell sometimes for the wives and families, just as in this movie. In 1999, after 4 years in the army, I should have taken some time to adjust back to civilian life. I should have perhaps hiked the Florida trails and gone exploring to simply unwind. True, my funds were meager, but I had 6k saved up. If I had taken a little time off, I might have found it much easier to get used to life.So this movie reminds us of the special needs of soldiers coming back from the battle zone. They need extra care, patience, and help often to get back into normal life again.
