I used Windows 2000 in 2024 ~ A forgotten legend...
This OS has been around for about 25 years, and was overshadowed by Windows XP. So why not try it out today? I still, kind of, use this OS today. Windows 2000 (preliminary name: Windows NT 5.0) began development after Windows NT 4.0 released in 1996 under the name "Windows NT 5.0" (previously mentioned). It released to manufacturing in late 1999 and to the general public in early 2000 (hence the name "Windows 2000"). It did not have a formal codename, as the lead of the development team did not like the concept of codenames (iirc). Windows 2000 would get four service packs, and would be supported until mid 2010. It was an important release that, though was not intended for consumers, became a consumer-based OS after the disaster that was Microsoft Windows Me (Millennium Edition, 2000). Enjoy! Also, I am aware of the unconventional wallpaper. I have since changed to using a Hatsune Miku background on this specific PC and swapped to a Dell Dimension 3000 with a long-haired Nanami madobe background.
