Episode 42: The UK Chilli Queen Eats 51 Fresh Carolina Reapers LIVE for the first time in the World
Hello. So I m doing this crazy feat to raise some money towards my trip to America for a terrifying chilli duel with Atomik Menace on the 14th September, 2019, at The Pepper Festival in Auburn, Cali. The festival offered to pay towards my travel and expenses but I could not bring myself to accept as they have planned to give their profits to two amazing children's charities and I did not want to take a single cent/penny from that. I don't make any money from chilli-eating contests and for 7 years, I have travelled all over the UK to take part in chilli-eating contests at my own expense covering petrol, entry fees, purchases to support the chilli sauce producers as well as buying food and drinks at the festival throughout the day to help support the festival. It has been a costly hobby but one that I have enjoyed tremendously. When League Of Fire approached me with this, I agreed to the duel as it is really great to bring the chilli communities in the US and UK together again and it keeps a buzz going. Already after my duel with Johnny Scoville in July, so many people in America know more chilli producers in the UK and vice versa. It's great to help build friendships and the whole chilli world gets involved. I didn't do it for fame or to prove how 'hard' I am as I am far from it. There was a reason for the challenge and that was to help raise some funds for my costly last minute trip to America. I declined offer of funds towards my travel costs from the festival as I wanted ALL their planned profits to go to the 2 children's charities they have chosen. Instead I chose a much more painful and difficult challenge to help raise money for myself. It had to be a crazy and trying challenge so people would donate and I was very fearful and anxious about it for two weeks. So I know I am doing this challenge to raise money for myself but I have already done my bit for charity by not accepting any help from the festival. Instead, I am taking a much more painful and terrifying option which is to eat these Carolina Reapers live on air. Please help if you are in a position to and would like to do so.
