[Doom 2] The Rebirth Map 16: The Musty Ones (UV-Fast 5:55)
Much more manageable than map 32. A rather plain looking map but with a few tense close encounters. Just realised while making the tags that there are no hitscanners at all. I found ammo handling tricky here. I often wound up at the yellow key area with no shells left to fight the imps, for example. The berserk at the end provides relief but wasn't necessary in this demo. Made two blunders at 2:10 (getting distracted by imp while shooting buttons) and at around 3:30 (forgot to press the yellow key button, having to run up the stairs afterwards to do it) so it's quite improvable, although I think I had a good start and finish. I deviated from Vladimir Monakhov's UV-Max ending by first making full use of the invincibility before going back for the final (frickin' useless) secret. It does mean that I don't let monsters infight while getting that secret so it's not necessarily better. Also after getting the yellow key I immediately went to the BFG instead of engaging the bunch of revenants on the other side. I found that I could do without the ammo over there until the end. The downside is that those revenants usually wander around and I have to run a bit further in the end to chase them down. ___ This demo was recorded using the PrBoom Plus port (v. 2.5.1.3), captured on video using Screenflick v. 2.6.9 and edited using Windows Live Movie Maker v. 15.4.
