Targus Versavu Case for iPad Air 2: A Disappointment
Targus Versavu for iPad Air 2 versus the Apple SmartCase? The comparison is not a flattering one for the Versavu. If you are buying a sleek, super thin tablet, why would you want to smother it in this huge case? It would be one thing if the Targus Versavu stated that it had 6 foot drop protection--or any drop protection at all--but the Versavu packaging makes absolutely no mention of drop ratings. Don't get me wrong--there is nothing actually wrong with this case, other than its lack of a sleep/wake function. The stand is sturdy and the case looks like it would hold up well over time. I've had various Versavu cases in the past, and they were all OK. But this Versavu has made no effort to slim down and become more lovely for the iPad Air 2, and it shows. Frustrated with the Versavu, I got an Apple SmartCase and the difference is amazing. The SmartCase is remarkably thin, good looking and everything works perfectly. It probably won't protect your iPad Air 2 very well in a fall, but the Versavu might not either...at least Targus is not making any claims to that effect. So I decided to enjoy the thinness and beauty of my iPad Air 2 with the Apple SmartCase...and returned the Versavu to the store.
