Sunshower // Reface DX | 0-Coast | Mood | Dark World | Volante
Distant thunder echoes over the mountains and through the valley. The sun shines bright and the sky is blue, yet there's a chill in the air. A stormy wind sweeps over the peaks and down across the foothills carrying with it a refreshing summer rain. The surrounding landscape glimmers from freshly fallen water droplets dancing on the end of every leaf and blade of grass. It's a sunshower. Well, that or an extremely loose free-association of hearing a bunch of loops with tape speed effects and ample pitch shifting. One or the other. In this track, I am using a loop on Volante throughout. However, I speed it up and reverse it as I progress (x0.5, x1, x2, x2 reversed, and x1 reversed). This runs in and out of phase with the 0-Coast, which shifts between melodic, percussive, and hybrid melodic/percussive patches. All the while, I am capturing and recapturing granular loops with Mood. Dark World provides ample warble and a gritty noise texture via it's Mod Reverb, which I unapologetically abuse. Combining all of this on a whim while playing two custom patches I made on the DX results in a track with a lot of textural motion and tonal diversity.
