Growing Honeydew Melon from Seeds, Days 272-286
I had my largest vine 1 melon in a plastic sling for two weeks, as it was getting too big to rest on the railing. Problems galore in the last 2 weeks! I built two wooden benches as platforms for the melons. The new jug of insecticide is super effective but I will start spraying with dilute solutions of hydrogen peroxide again to save some leaves from mold infections. The amount of sunlight these vines receive has declined precipitously due to the angle of the sun (it's late October now) and the increasing prevalence of cloudy days. Growing honeydew vines was probably the most difficult assignment I could have undertaken as a beginner! I can't believe I'm still reacting to so many problems long after I've identified them!
