Giant Anteater! | The Bronx Zoo | Children's Zoo Highlights
7-8-15 Here is an assortment of clips from my walk-through of the new and improved Children's Zoo. The renovation includes the addition of a varitey of Central/South American animals, including pudu - the world's smallest deer species - coatis (both of which I wasn't able to see, unfortunately), two-toed sloths, squirrel monkeys, and - one of my all-time favorite animals - the giant anteater! It's also the first time in 25 years that the zoo has had giant anteaters on exhibit! Species shown (in order of appearance): - Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) - Black-tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) - Monk Parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) - Silver Pheasant (Lophura nycthemera) - North American River Otter (not entirely sure) - American Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) - Giant Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) - Common Squirrel Monkey (Saimiri sciureus) - Linnaeus's Two-toed Sloth (Choloepus didactylus)
