Pumpkin Custard and Warming up Brown Hues

I still carve a Jack-O-Lantern every year. I still must have my pumpkin pie. I still love to see and meet the goblins that roam our street. I still need to make a pumpkin pie spice soap! I suppose I could make a single color (orange-brown) design for this, but you know me. I have to find a way to get some color and swirls into my soap. The trick with foodie soaps is to add enough color without overdoing it. For my foodie types of soap, it still has to look appetizing even though eating the soap isn't advised. The other challenge is working with fragrances with vanillin since it generally discolors to tans or browns. The fragrance I chose was Pumpkin Pie Spice from Rustic Escentuals. Based on their description, the fragrance would discolor the soap to tan instead of brown. That attracted me right away. To my nose, the scent is also balanced so that the cinnamon doesn't overpower the clove and vanilla notes. I also let the organic pumpkin puree add its goodness and color to the batch. One of the swirl colors is purely colored by the soap base and puree. I also used a bright orange, knowing that as the tanning occurred, it would probably discolor to a nice pumpkiny caramel color. A brown orange was also used as well as a bit of white that morphed to a nice mocha color. Mica drizzles were used on the top to add some definition. Please subscribe.
