One of them was the village of Svaromye, of which Seagull Island was a part. It also has many other names - Svarishche, Tea Island, Khmelnoy, Kosoy, Bald. The island has an interesting history - according to Slavic chronicles, there was a temple of God Svarog (hence the name of the village), where the priests performed rituals for the god-blacksmith, the father of Dazhbog.
