Multimedia video in the online and hybrid classroom

Presented as part of the English Australia/Pearson Festival of Bright Ideas by Cameron Bennett, UWA CELT. Have you played YouTube video in class only to have annoying and inappropriate ads interrupt? With the advent of online and hybrid teaching, multimedia video has become indispensable to professional and engaging lessons. In this webinar, participants will learn how to remove YouTube ads, create and edit video for jigsaw viewing, embed interactive quizzes, modify playback, work with captions, use a video backchannel, and download content for hosting on a learning management system. The session will finish with participants invited to share their go-to multimedia tools and tips. Presenter (WA) Cam Bennett’s teaching role at the University of Western Australia builds on over 20 years as an English language instructor, tour guide and personal trainer. He is passionate about blending education technologies to engage students towards learning outcomes. Cam also enjoys coordinating the choir at the Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) for the linguistic, social and wellbeing benefits to students.
