Searching for Growers of a Miracle Tree in Haiti

Vlog #2 - Searching for Growers of a Miracle Tree in Haiti Believe it or not, but part of my growing efforts actually revolves around growing...TREES! In fact, one of my main projects for the past half year has revolved around a tree called Moringa. This tree, also called the the Tree of Life and the Miracle Tree, is known for its amazing properties: its leaves are a superfood, the seeds can be used to produce high quality oil, and almost every part of the tree has powerful medicinal properties. After completing a study we have now started to plant this tree in Haiti (98% deforested), where we are helping smallholder farmers grow the tree and process it for export to the international market. This video provides some impressions of a recent visit I made to Haiti. I spent a week travelling around the country looking for groups of Haitian farmers that already work with Moringa and that might be able to participate in our project. The footage and content is still somewhat sketchy, partly because it was filmed before my last introduction video (meaning I was less prepared and less equipped at the time). With time it'll get better! Either way all feedback and suggestions are welcome! And of course, don't forget to like, share and subscribe if you wanna show some love! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a some more information about the benefits of moringa see: http://time.com/3544425/superfoods-moringa-tree-breadfruit-prickly-pear-cactus/ http://reset.me/story/moringa-one-of-the-worlds-most-abundant-sources-of-natural-vitamins-and-minerals/ For more information about this project also see the organization's website: http://www.smallholderfarmersalliance.org/ For the study I conducted on the commercial potential for Moringa production in Haiti see: http://www.smallholderfarmersalliance.org/home/2015/2/9/haiti-moringa-study-released-today.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow and support The Growing Dutchman on his adventures: http://www.facebook.com/TheGrowingDutchman http://www.instagram.com/TheGrowingDutchman http://www.twitter.com/GrowingDutchman http://TheGrowingDutchman.tumblr.com http://www.TheGrowingDutchman.com (coming soon) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep Growing!
