Sokolniki Park Парк «Сокольники»
I was at the Sokolniki Park in Moscow in 16 July. Six times the size of Gorky Park, Sokolniki is really huge. The charm about the park is the various clusters of activities for everybody. There's a husky theme park at the end which I couldn't reach in time, and there's also a serene wooden church which surprised me by where it was, right in a park in Moscow. Then there are various small ponds, rose gardens, 'green' activities like some Segway thing, pedal bikes for many people, kids activity corners, chess clubs, skate park and also a dancing area for seniors who still have a spring in their step. I discovered this 'public' piano only at the end. Anyone can play on it and I was too embarrassed to try after seeing this guy who was a real pro and playing many of the romantic songs I like...a pity the sky turned black too suddenly with loud thunder and we all hastened to escape.
