Things immediately took a twisted turn as Mia and the Bakers began assaulting Ethan, transforming into monstrous demonic figures in the process. Ethan barely escapes their grasps, and later learns that the whole family, along with his wife had been infected by a special kind of virus called the Mold, with its source being that of a bioweapon in the form of a little girl named Eveline. Ethan searched the whole Bakers' residence, and was able to produce a serum to treat his wife. He managed to fend off the Bakers, and they were rescued by Blue Umbrella Corps. Alpha team led by Chris Redfield. 3 years and 8 months have passed, The Winters have relocated to Eastern Europe courtesy of Chris Redfield, where they have been laying in cover since the tragic incident.
